Our power to create
No Comments
Many times I’ve heard the phrase “whatever we focus our thoughts, words, actions and feelings on, we bring into physical form!” The Universe doesn’t judge the quality of the thought it just hears it regardless if it positive or negative. Recently I was reminded that my thoughts were not creating the joy I wanted in my life, rather I was focused on the fear that I someone might be upset with me. Well, I brought that experience into my life. Patricia Cota-Robles in her newsletter http:///eraofpeace.org (click latest news) “Taking Charge of Your Life” states that the only reason we are not cocreating lives of joy, prosperity and every other positive experience is because “we have forgotten that we can”. It’s in our power…our thoughts, words, actions and feelings determine the quality of life we will experience.
November 2009 is an especially auspicious and powerful month for everyone. Many important changes are taking place. It is truly a month of transformation. A time for us to create the life we want.
Look forward to hearing your opinion about Patricia Cota-Robles recent newsletter “Taking Charge of Your Life.

“Successful people make money. It’s not that people
who make money become successful, but that successful
people attract money. They bring success to what they do.”
- Dr. Wayne Dyer: Self-development author and speaker
You may not easily accept that successful people attract money. But why not? We know that people who go out of their way to be friendly, energetic, and happy attract more friends. We know that people who are always focused on their health and exercise will attract better health and better looks. If your energy, thoughts, and spirit are driven to achieve more and become your best, that’s exactly what you’ll attract. –Dr. Wayne Dyer, Excuses Begone! How To Change Lifelong, Self-Defeating Thinking Habits. Excerpts from Nightingale.com website, May 19, 2009

Our desires act as fuel, propelling us toward new horizons. Without something to strive for, we stagnate and become stuck in ruts of our own making because we are unsure of what to do next. Goals are the dreams that we are willing to work for. When we set goals, we take responsibility for our lives and choose to wholeheartedly devote ourselves to our aspirations. Even if we only take the smallest steps toward achieving our ambitions, it is vital that we actively pursue our goals rather than just daydreaming about them. Having goals makes us feel good because it adds a sense of purpose and direction to our lives.
In creating goals, you create your future by outlining your destiny. When you choose your goals using your head and heart, you take the first step in manifesting what you want. You grant your own wishes every time you achieve another goal.

Expectations…how wonderful they are. Expectations provide us a means to look forward to our dreams and desires. On the flip side, expectations have within them the ability to become whatever they will be. Regardless how much effort or wishing we put into expectations, we cannot predict their outcome.
We may know what we would like the outcome to be, for example get a new job that pays more, however in the process we may have to work longer hours and have less time to be with our family.
When we think about expectations, there is a paradox at play. Sometimes fate plays a greater role than the effort we put into our expectations.
This doesn’t mean giving up on having expectations or dreams, the challenge is to have expectations we really value and want, however not be tied to the outcome. Rather leave room for the magic that our expectations will bring.
Prayer:
I surrender to this moment. I allow it to be what it is. I want for nothing, for I have all that I need. I let go of my expectations so that miracles can happen. I trust in the Divine flow of the Universe to assist me in sorting through what is of value in my life and what isn’t. Please, God, give me the strength and courage to let go of what is not necessary in my life so that there is room for what is.
The only outcome that I ask for is unconditional love, peace, good health, happiness, and prosperity. In what form, and how these miracles occur, I leave up to you, dear Holy One.
Guide me on my path. I will follow.
And so it is.
Amen

Rumi, a 13th century poet and spiritual master, states…
We are as the flute, and the music in us is from thee;
we are as the mountain and the echo in us is from thee.
We are as pieces of chess engaged in victory and defeat:
our victory and defeat is from thee, O thou whose qualities are comely!
Who are we, O Thou soul of our souls,
that we should remain in being beside thee?
We and our existences are really non-existence;
thou art the absolute Being which manifests the perishable.
We all are lions, but lions on a banner:
because of the wind they are rushing onward from moment to moment.
Their onward rush is visible, and the wind is unseen:
may that which is unseen not fail from us!
Our wind whereby we are moved and our being are of thy gift;
our whole existence is from thy bringing into being.
Who are we? Everyday we are discovering who we are. It requires listening to our music, being present to the life we experiencing, and taking notice of the invisible that surrounds us. Gradually who we are is made known to us. The invisible becoming visible.

Another word for procrastination is distraction. A distraction provides an excellent excuse for not doing something or getting it completed. Sometimes we are so overwhelmed with what we want to do or need to do, that it’s just easier to be distracted.
You may be asking, “How do I stay focused, without becoming distracted?”
First, recognize that it’s easy to become distracted.
Second, determine a few simple things or steps you can do to move yourself closer to what you are procrastinating about. For example, if you are procrastinating on cleaning your office, decide to work on one drawer or area of your desk at a time.
Three, after you have completed the second step, now give yourself premission temporarily to do whatever you want (distraction)…old habits do not die easily.
Four, set a time limit on how long you will allow yourself to be distracted.
Five, go back to the project and determine a few more steps you will do to accomplish the project.
Six, when you have completed the project. Congratulate yourself for a project well done.
Good luck and have fun with your “procrastination distractors”! Use them to your advantage!!!

Since we probably know ourselves better than anyone else does, then we may very well be the best person to ask for advice when we are in a quandary. One interesting exercise is to try asking for advice from your past and future selves. There is the younger self that you used to be and the older, more mature self that you will become. You can gain a different perspective when you view present situations through your younger self’s eyes or your mature self’s more experienced point of view. Perhaps, your younger self would view a current dilemma in a more innocent, less cynical way. Likewise, your older, hopefully wiser, self may offer advice from a more compassionate, experienced perspective.
Your different selves can give you some invaluable answers. After all, no one can know you better than your selves. You are your wisest guide.

The goal is to be hired!!! However, before that can happen…there’s the interview you need to skillfully master. The challenge is anticipating the questions that might get asked and answering them in a way that you remain a candidate and eventually hired.
I always tell my client to tell the truth, however the challenge is to answer the questions in a positive light and to stick to the facts. Employers want to know about you and not the textbook answer.
Toughest question #1. What are your weakness?
(Answer based on a benefit that position requires. I am a very detailed person and in some industries that may not be a good fit, but in this position…)
Toughest question #2. Why did you leave your last job?
(Present your leaving in a positive light. I learned…and now I can concentrate…)
Toughest question #3. Tell me about the worst boss you ever had?
(Do not complain about any of your bosses. None of my bosses were awful, some taught me more than others…)
Toughest question#4. What is your current salary?
(This can be touchy question, since you do not want to be disqualified before you have had an opportunity to be considered for the position. Depending on the employer you may be obligated to answer, however if possible try to delay answering the question. Although salary is important, the deciding factor is whether I am the best fit for the position. I trust that the salary you offer will be appropriate for the position and my experience…If they say it’s essential, you might say… my salary is in the low, mid, or high…)
Good luck at your interview. The key to a successful interview is…being prepared. Practice out loud what you are going to say. Ask someone to listen to how it sounds.

Are you looking for a job with less stress and more freedom? This may mean you are overqualified for the position you are interested in. What do can you do to be considered for the position?
The employers biggest fear is that you will quit in 6 months or want their position. How do you get passed their fear or misperception of why you are applying for such a position?
- In your cover letter explain your motivation. Maybe, you want to work less hours, want less stress, or it is something you have always wanted to do.
- Explain how this position will provide you an opportunity to fulfill on one of your dreams or goals for this time in your life.
- Explain how your experience can benefit the organization.
- Let them know your goal is to stay, that you do not view it as a temporary position.
- Network into the organization. Tell your story of why you want to work there.
Remember today’s Boomer is especially interested in doing more in the next phase of their life. They want to continue contributing on many levels. They want to freely decide how to share their gifts and talents.
The time is now to do what you want!!!
